2022 Specialty Show
It was an exciting summer for the Samoyed Club of Washington State! After ramping up with several fun activity events, members and non-members alike brave the heat to make the trek down to the Enumclaw Expo Center during the third week of August. If you are unfamiliar with what happens down there, the week starts off with the Sammamish Kennel Club all-breed show on the weekend. Following that, the rest of the week is filled with the Rainier Working Dog show and the Olympic Kennel Club all-breed show. In conjunction with both of these shows are many breed specialty shows, including ours, and several other dog sport related events such as dock diving and agility. We are fortunate enough to be able to take part in one of the biggest dog shows in the country and I highly recommend that you visit if you can!
Our specialty show this year went off without a hitch. Numbers were slightly down but many people reported that gas and hotel prices this year made it harder to travel. As many return attendees know, hotels are hard to come by in Enumclaw. However, the drive from Auburn is relatively easy and there are many dog-friendly hotels there. I also recommend checking Airbnb or even considering camping on site! You will notice many tents pitched in designated areas around the show ground. So, for those who don’t mind roughing it, that is definitely a cheaper option. The Enumclaw Expo Center does how shower buildings.
Outside of the show ring was almost as exciting as inside! On Thursday our club hosted an evening appetizer social. This is a great potluck style even that is an easy, relaxing way to for members to meet and socialize. On Friday evening we hosted a banquet and the final stages of our auction. The banquet was a ticketed, catered event open to all show attendees, even thos
